Old pattern from my great grandmother. This pattern was common in Icelandic weaving. This kind of tapestry was put on horses and the women sat on it when riding. The name of this type off weaving is “glitvefnaður”, a brocade with a colorful pattern on black base. My great grandmother, Kristveig Björnsdóttir (b.1881), from Skógar, Axarfirði in North-Þingeyjarsýsla, owned this tapestry.
